Dr. Wolfgang Schmidt-Nowara is a past President of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and past President of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He has been a pioneer in the study of and a spokesperson for the use of oral appliances for snoring and sleep apnea. He has been honored with the Nathaniel Kleitman Award of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) in 2003 and the Pierre Robin Award of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) in 2002 and by Best Doctor in America since 2005. He retired from the University of New Mexico in 1997 with the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine.
