Dr. John Remmers is the Chief Medical Officer and co-founder of Zephyr Sleep Technologies, where he leads the research, design and development of innovative sleep products used in the diagnoses and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Remmers is a physiologist, pioneer and innovator in sleep medicine, having invented products ranging from portable diagnostic sleep monitors to auto-titrating CPAP devices and now MATRx. Dr. Remmers research results on the MATRx clinical trial were recently published in the October 2013 issue of the Journal SLEEP. In addition, Dr. Remmers has published over one hundred peer reviewed publications in the area of respiratory physiology & served two terms as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Applied Physiology. Dr. Remmers has spent a lifetime researching and practicing in the field of sleep medicine and is a world-renowned expert in the field of snoring & obstructive sleep apnea.

He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Physiology from Dartmouth Medical School. Dr. Remmers has also completed his Pre Doctoral Fellowship from the Harvard Medical School and completed his Post Doctoral Fellowship at Dartmouth Medical School.

Dr. Shouresh Charkhandeh, general dentist, is the current Chief Dental Officer at Zephyr Sleep Technologies and is involved with the R&D team. Dr. Charkhandeh leads a group of private dental practices in Canada and speaks on behalf of the SomnoMed Academy and Aurum Group. He also holds a position with the Snore Centre in Calgary, Canada. Dr. Charkhandeh has a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Alberta.

As a co-founder of Zephyr, Sabina has been focused on creating products that will fundamentally change the way sleep physicians prescribe oral appliance therapy. As Director of Technology, Sabina leads a dedicated team of researchers working to develop new and innovative sleep medicine technologies. Sabina draws on her experience in basic research, new technology development, medical device commercialization and her expertise in intellectual property strategy. Prior to starting Zephyr, Sabina worked with medical device startups in Calgary as well as Silicon Valley, and was a Director of Partnerships, Manager Licensing and Business Development at University Technologies International Inc. Sabina holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Calgary.

As the Director of Accounting for Zephyr, Kathy directs all financial operations involving financial reporting, cash management, budgeting and forecasting. In addition Kathy is responsible for all Zephyr’s corporate and human resource activities. Over the last 3 years at Zephyr she has implemented financial systems and processes necessary to transition Zephyr into a growth stage to a leader in the sleep health market. Prior to joining Zephyr, Kathy was an independent contractor and a Forensic Accountant at The Guarantee Company of North America. Kathy has a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree from the University of Waterloo and is a Chartered Accountant.

Len joined the Zephyr team with 25 years in high tech and advanced materials product development. He has a proven track record for being able to take concepts to reality with elegance in design. Len holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary with a minor in Computers.

Greg Ogrodnick’s outstanding career at prominent healthcare, information technology, and biotech companies has given him exceptional insight into what it takes to make a business succeed. Currently, Mr. Ogrodnick is the CEO at Circle Cardiovascular Imaging Inc. Prior to joining Circle Cardiovascular Imaging, Mr. Ogrodnick was the Co-Founder and President of Conceptis Technologies Inc., a leading medical media and education company whose main asset was theheart.org. Mr. Ogrodnick brings extensive experience to his roles as CEO and active Chair of Zephyr's Board of Directors. Mr. Ogrodnick received a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Alberta.

Steve Mulherin is a partner at Polar Capital. He joined the partnership in 1997 and opened the Polar office in Calgary. He has experience as both an operator and private equity investor. Mr. Mulherin was the CEO and Chairman of Wittke Inc. prior to its sale in 2002. Prior to joining Polar, he was Chief Financial Officer and VP Corporate Development of a major a Canadian diversified operating company in transportation and energy services and prior to that, with a major Canadian bank in Corporate Banking. Mr. Mulherin received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen’s University and is a graduate of the Executive Management Program at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

Since 2010, Craig Reynolds has held the position of CEO of Cereve Inc. Previously, Mr. Reynolds had been an officer and director of Respironics after the completion of the merger between Respironics and Healthdyne Technologies in 1998. Prior to joining Respironics, Mr. Reynolds held many positions at Healthdyne Technologies including President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to his association with Healthdyne, Mr. Reynolds was employed by Puritan-Bennett Corporation and Procter & Gamble. A native of New York, Mr. Reynolds earned a Bachelor in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA in Marketing from Georgia State University.

Robin Abrams is an independent director. Ms. Abrams has extensive experience in governance and oversight over the financial matters of large, publicly traded entities including as the CEO of Firefly Mobile, a mobile products company for the youth market. Prior to that, she was president and CEO of BlueKite, a leading provider of bandwidth optimization software for wireless operators. She also served as president and CEO of Palm Computing, Inc., leading the launches of the Palm V and Palm VII handheld devices. Prior to Palm, Ms. Abrams was president and CEO of VeriFone, a global leader in debit and credit card payment solutions. Ms. Abrams has also held internationally focused executive positions at Apple and Unisys. Ms. Abrams earned her B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Nebraska, and she serves on the board of directors of HCL Technologies, Lattice Semiconductor Corporation, Zephyr Sleep Technologies Inc., Sierra Wireless and FactSet Research Systems Inc., as well as on the board of trustees for the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology.

Dr. Cistulli has more than 20 years of experience in clinical and research sleep medicine and has developed an international reputation for his research on the inter-relationships between upper airway disorders and oral biology (dentistry), resulting in novel approaches for diagnosing and treating OSA (e.g. oral appliances). His research program has attracted substantial competitive funding and he has published widely in the sleep field. Dr. Cistulli received the Pierre Robin Award from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) in 2006 for academic contributions to the field. He sits on numerous professional committees, and has served as President of the Australasian Sleep Association (2003-2005) and is currently a board member of the Sleep Health Foundation in Australia.

Dr. Kuna led the PSG/CPAP Core Lab for the NIH funded CATNAP (CPAP Apnea Treatment North American Program) project, a 6-site clinical trial assessing the effect of CPAP treatment on functional outcomes in patients with milder OSA. Dr. Kuna is leader of a NIH program project grant project comparing the effect of CPAP treatment on intermediate cardiovascular risk factors in patients with OSA. He has authored over 60 peer reviewed original research articles.

Dr. Kushida is President of the World Sleep Federation, a past President of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and founding President of the California Sleep Society. His research interests include the anatomic and physiologic changes associated with sleep apnea, the management of restless legs syndrome, and countermeasures for sleep loss. He has authored or edited over 150 publications, including six books.

Dr. Schmidt-Nowara is a past President of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and past President of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He has been a pioneer in the study of and a spokesperson for the use of oral appliances for snoring and sleep apnea. He has been honored with the Nathaniel Kleitman Award of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) in 2003 and the Pierre Robin Award of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) in 2002 and by Best Doctor in America since 2005. He retired from the University of New Mexico in 1997 with the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine.
